By now, many of you have probably seen the movie KPop Demon Hunters. If not, I’m sure you have at least heard some of the songs from the movie as they are even being played on radio stations. Wait Justin, I thought this blog was about the stock market, not pop culture? It is! Let me get to my point. You see, deep within the confines of this movie was a hidden message. If you have a keen ear and eye, you just might have picked up on it. Throughout the duration of the movie there were many references to it but the most obvious tell was their hit track titled “Golden”. You guessed it. KPop Demon Hunters was hinting to us to buy Gold right in front of our faces whilst we were distracted by their catchy tunes and anime visuals.
At the time of the release of KPop Demon Hunters, August 23rd 2025, GDX was trading around $60 USD. If we fast forward to today October 6th 2025, it now sits at around $78 USD. Just a nice 28% increase or so. I just picked up another 50 shares today. But why am I so bullish on Gold? We are just on the cusp of Gold surpassing $4,000 USD and I couldn’t be happier. Why? Well for the most obvious reason, we might see as much as two more rate cuts this year as well as many more to come in 2026. But beyond that there is an even larger catalyst that could take effect.
For a long while, countries such as China and Japan have been large stakeholders in U.S. debt. T-bills and bonds predominantly. However, with the recent tariff policies and investors becoming wary of our ever-growing debt, they have been slowly reducing their exposure to our assets. Now a gradual sell off won’t suddenly weaken the dollar overnight, but we will see the effects of this long term. But if there were a major sell off? Well Gold would leap heads and bounds to new heights we have never seen. Of course, it may never come to this and in that case, I’ll be happy to watch my holdings slowly grow as we know for a fact that these rate cuts will come with due time. So guaranteed growth with the possibility of a major spike if this catalyst takes place? Well, that’s just peachy, or dare I say, a “Golden” opportunity.
